Week of September 8 - 11
|
This week's skills are: line graphs and stem-and-leaf plots. Students were given notes on line graph vocabulary, as well as practiced how to create a line graph. We also created and took surveys to collect our data. The second skill was stem-and-leaf plots. They were instructed to how to create a stem-and-leaf plot using 2-digit numbers.

Week of September 14 - 18
|
This week's skill is: Mean, Median, Mode and Range. The students will be shown how to find each for a given set of data. The first step is to put the numbers of the data set in order from least to greatest.
To find the mean, add up all numbers in the data set and then divide by the total amount of numbers in the data set. To find the median, find the number in the middle. If there is an even amount of numbers, then add the 2 middle numbers and divide by 2. To find the mode, find the number that appears most often. There may be more than 1 mode. To find the range, solve for the difference between the largest and smallest number. In other words, you must subtract them. |
